    One cent above whoever is up there. That is the entire ruleset. Nobody can leap ahead with a bigger cheque — the price moves one penny at a time, forever.

    The board locks for you

    Your guaranteed run scales with what you paid — a minute at the bottom, up to ten at a thousand dollars. Nobody can touch it until your timer ends.

    Keep it until you're beaten

    After the lock expires you stay up there for free until somebody outbids you. When they do, you slide down the leaderboard — and stay on it forever.

FAQ

Is the billboard real?

Yes. It is a wooden-framed board, roughly 8 feet across, held up by two people standing on sand. Photographs are taken. Nothing is rendered.

Why only a penny more?

Because a bigger increment would let one rich advertiser price out everyone else permanently. A penny keeps the board takeable by anybody, forever.

How long do I get?

At least your locked window, which scales with what you paid, and then indefinitely until somebody takes it from you. Nobody can remove you early.

What if I lose the race?

Nothing happens. The board is claimed in the database before any card is touched, so if you did not win it, you were never charged.

Do lower ranks get traffic?

They do. People scroll the leaderboard specifically to see who is losing, and every entry stays clickable forever.

Is this a good use of a marketing budget?
